Intel and AMD have simultaneously cut prices on their high-core-count server CPUs by more than 50%, a rare move that analysts link to the emergence of Huawei’s KunPeng 930 processor (or Kirin 930). With up to 160 cores per dual-socket rack and DDR5 support, the KunPeng 930 is seen as a potential disruptor in the data center market, prompting aggressive pricing strategies from U.S. chipmakers.
